How to Create Your NSFAS Login Account

To access your NSFAS funding you will be required to register or create myNSFAS Login Account. Here is the step to follow

  1. myNSFAS Portal Login via www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Navigate to myNSFAS tab.
  3. Tap register.
  4. Tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify your details.
  5. Capture the ID Number as stated on your ID document.
  6. Provide your Full Name and Surname (same on your ID number)
  7. Enter your current email address and Confirm
  8. Enter your cellphone number
  9. Create a password and confirm the password.
  10. Upload ID Copy.
  11. Tap register.
  12. An SMS or mail will be sent via the cell number and Email address provided (this OTP expires after 24 hours).
  13. Enter the code received
  14. Tap Submit.

Congratulations!!! You have now completed your NSFAS account re-registration.

How to Apply for NSFAS Funding Online

Getting a shot at NSFAS funding has never been easier, but the NSFAS online application process is easy, quick, and safe. Don’t get left behind or wait until the eleventh hour to get your shot of funding.

Follow these simple steps and submit your application online

  1. Access NSFAS Application Portal
  2. Tap on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
  3. Create a myNSFAS account
  4. Tap on the ‘APPLY‘ tab and complete the sections on the screen
  5. Upload required supporting documents where applicable
  6. Preview and ‘Submit’

And just like that, your NSFAS funding application has been submitted.

How to Re-register your myNSFAS account

To access your funding progress through your myNSFAS account, you are required to register or re-register a myNSFAS account:

  1. Go to www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Navigate to myNSFAS tab
  3. Tap on the register button
  4. Tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify your details
  5. Then capture your ID number as stated on your ID document
  6. Type in your full name and surname as per your ID number
  7. Type in your current email address
  8. Confirm your email address
  9. Type in your cellphone number
  10. Create a password
  11. Confirm password
  12. Upload ID Copy
  13. Tap on Register
  14. OTP will be sent to the email and cell number provided (this OTP expires after 24 hours)
  15. Type in the OTP (One Time Password)
  16. Tap on the Submit button

Congratulations!!! You have now completed your re-registration.

To complete registration you will need a copy of your ID. For users with the ID card make sure that you upload a copy reflecting both sides of your ID card.  Your email address will be your username. Please protect your username and password

How to Check Your NSFAS Application Status Online

To access your NSFAS Student Portal and check your application status, here are the 6 steps to follow

  1. Check NSFAS Status
  2. Tap on myNSFAS on the navigation tab
  3. Enter your Username and Password
  4. Tap Sign In
  5. Navigate to your NSFAS Dashboard
  6. Tap on Track Funding Progress

Congratulations!!! Or still, pending? Find the notification meaning of your status and begin to appeal for NSFAS.

How to Submit Appeal on myNSFAS Login Account

New students and continuing students whose applications for NSFAS funding were unsuccessful need to submit their appeal directly to NSFAS online through the myNSFAS portal using the following process.

  1. Log in “myNSFAS” account via https://my.nsfas.org.za/
  2. Tap on the ‘Track Funding Progress” Tab
  3. Check the application progress tab
  4. If the application status reflects an unsuccessful message, the student may submit an appeal by clicking on the ‘Submit Appeal’ tab.
  5. Once the student is on the Application Appeal page, s/he will see the reason for the unsuccessful application status.
  6. The student is then able to choose an appealing reason and upload the required supporting documents.

How to Update NSFAS Application Contact Details

Keep your details up-to-date. Students who wish to change their NSFAS contact details after the online application can do so by:

  1. Login to my.nsfas.org.za
  2. Tap on the already registered tab
  3. Enter your Username and Password
  4. Press on sign in button
  5. Tap on my personal details
  6. Go to the cellphone number section
  7. Delete and remove and type in the new cellphone number
  8. Click on Update details
  9. OTP will be sent to your new number
  10. Enter OTP and Submit

Confirmation messageNumber is successfully changed (if a duplicate number exists student will get an error message). Download the Tenet NSFAS App to learn ways to withdraw cash or try the NSFAS Bank Account MasterCard.
