Discover the Education Management Information System (EMIS) portal and login to register and find your EMIS Number. EMIS serves as the primary source of data for determining the payment of grants to government education institutions.

Registration of Teachers on the Education Management Information System (EMIS)

As you are aware the Ministry has with effect from this academic year adopted EMIS as the primary source of data for determining payment of grants to government education institutions. This has provided an incentive for government institutions to provide timely and up-to-date information on learners.

I have however noted that the registration of teaching staff, which should be easier than that of learners, is still low despite our reminder in the Calendar of EMIS activities. Access Uganda School Calendar.

The purpose of this communication is three-fold:

Request all government institutions to upload their teaching and non-teaching staff (including those not on government payroll) on the EMIS portal. Failure to abide by this deadline is likely to delay payment of salaries.
Request all private institutions to upload their teaching and non-teaching staff on the EMIS portal by the end of Term 1 of the academic year.
Remind you that no person shall teach in any public or private school of any description unless he or she is registered as a teacher or licensed to teach following Section 11 of the Education Act. You should therefore ensure that all your teachers are registered in the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS) portal.

How to Register on the EMIS Portal

Schools and other Institutions require a user account to access or upload information for their institution on the EMIS Portal.

Go to the EMIS Wesbite
Tap on “Register Now” to “Create User Account”

This will open a page with two options for creating an account; for those with an EMIS number or those without.

Enter to verify your EMIS Number

The EIA can choose option one “With EMIS number”. This will open a form where the EIA will choose the category of their institution,

How to Find EMIS Number

Here’s how to search and retrieve the EMIS Number for your institution. For those whose administrative units changed e.g. County or Sub-country, try to search with the previous County or Sub-county.
