About the Federal Scholarship Board

The Federal Scholarship Board, which is led by a Director who also serves as the Secretary, is responsible for creating policies, developing plans to utilize scholarships effectively, and granting awards to deserving Nigerian students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The board is also responsible for fulfilling the Federal Government’s commitment to the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) and Multi-Lateral (Commonwealth Agreement) on scholarships and fellows. It operates through four divisions: Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA), Nigeria Awards, Commonwealth Scholarship, and Sustainable Development Goals.

Federal Scholarship Board Criteria for Eligibility

Undergraduate Scholarship:

  1. All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (7) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study, including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be over two (2) years old for non-African and African countries. The age of the certificate is one year (2021) only. The age limit is from 17 to 20 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship:

  1. All applicants for Postgraduate degree courses must hold a First Degree with 1st Class or at least 2nd Class Upper Division.
  2. All applicants must have completed the N.Y.S.C. Programme, and the age limit is 35 years for a Master’s and 40 years for a Ph.D.
  3. N.Y.S.C. discharge or exemption certificates only are accepted, and evidence of readiness is to be released by an employer.

  2. Locate and tap on the “Click to Apply” button on the page and proceed
  3. You will then be redirected to the application page, where you will fill in your details
  4. Therefore, complete your application, and all necessary documents must be uploaded.
  5. Locate and tap on the “Submit Button” to proceed.
