NPHCDA Recruitment for EMSS
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA in partnership with the Expanded Midwives Service Scheme (EMSS) is recruiting Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, and CHEWS to work at Primary Health Centres across the country.
This is in line with Nigeria’s commitment to improving maternal, newborn, and child health indices in Nigeria, the states are recruiting Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAS) and Medical Doctors to contribute to optimizing RMNCH+N service delivery in Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), through the expanded Midwives Service Scheme (eMSS).
NPHCDA Recruitment Requirements for EMSS

An eligible Nurse/Midwife must have:
- A valid licence to practice
- A minimum of 1-year experience post NYSC
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work in a team
Retired Nurses, Midwives, and/or nurse midwives (between 60-65 years old) are encouraged to apply.
EMSS Requirements for Medical Doctors
An eligible Medical Doctor must have:
- An MBBS degree from a recognized institution
- A valid practicing licence from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
- A minimum of 2 years experience post housemanship
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work in a team
An eligible Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) must:
- Be a certified Community Health Extension Worker. Possessing proof of having undergone modified Life-Saving Skills (mLSS) will be an added advantage
- Have a minimum of one (1) year experience in providing reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health plus nutrition (RMNCH+N) services
- Have a minimum of one (1) year experience in the conduct of community health outreaches
- Have a valid license to practice
EMSS Online Application and Recruitment Procedures
- If qualified, you are required to verify your email via a link.
- Shortly after verification, you will receive a notification email with a link to take the Computer-Based Test
- You will have a grace period of 10-days to complete the Computer-Based Test
- Applicants who have applied before and received an interview invitation, your previous application is still valid, do not re-apply.
