NCK Minimum Entry Criteria and Requirements for Upgrading Nursing/Midwifery Programmes
In the foregoing, the Nursing Council of Kenya approved the following entry criteria;
Progression from certificate to diploma must possess;
- Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse (KECHN) certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Must have achieved mandatory 2 years of work experience
- A valid practice license
- Nurses/Midwives trained outside Kenya & licensed by the Council must seek clearance before progression
Progression from diploma to degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) /Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSCM) must possess;
- Either Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), Kenya Registered Nursing (KRN), Kenya Registered Nurse/Midwife (KRN/M), Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry (KRN/MHP) or Kenya Registered Midwifery (KRM) certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Achieved mandatory 2 years of work experience
- A valid practice license
- Nurses/Midwives trained outside Kenya & licensed by the Council must seek clearance before progression

- Explore https://nckenya.com/
- Tap on Online Services on the navigation tab
- Select Online Services Portal from the drop-down menu

NCK Online Services Registration
Follow these steps on how to register and create an account on the Nursing Council of Kenya Online Services Portal (OSP).
- Access the NCK Online Services
- Tap on “Create Account”
- Select Category as “Practitioner”
- Enter your NCK Registration Number (Not License Number)
- Enter your ID Number and Email Address
- Tap on Register for Online Services to receive an email with the activation link
Access the email inbox you provided during registration.
- Follow the link from the Nursing Council of Kenya to continue with the registration
From the activation link in your email, you will be redirected back to the Online Services Portal to complete creating your profile.
- Upload Passport Photo
- Create a Username and Password
- Enter your Contact details
- Update your Profile details
- Tap on the OK button
On successful registration, the system dashboard will provide you with the functions available, where you can edit your profile, make a retention application and undertake online CPD courses.

- Tap on the Exams button
- Choose the preferred exam center
- Make payments to complete the application
