University of Ghana Announces New Date for Random Bed Allocation for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Accra, October 18, 2024 – The University of Ghana -UG, Legon has released a new date for the random allocation of beds to continuing undergraduate students and fresh graduate students for the 2024/2025 academic year. The exercise is now set to take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

According to a notice from the Pro Vice-Chancellor (ASA), students interested in participating in the random bed allocation process must ensure they complete their academic registration and express their interest by Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The deadline for expressing interest is essential for students wishing to be considered in the allocation process, which will be conducted transparently with the involvement of stakeholders.

Students are required to opt in via the STS UG Student Portal before the stated deadline. The random allocation aims to ensure fairness in the process of securing residential accommodation.

Important Reminders from the University

  1. The university continues to strive to increase its residential facilities, but accommodation is not guaranteed for all students. Students who are unable to secure on-campus accommodation should make alternative arrangements.
  2. Under no circumstances should any student or parent/guardian make payments to anyone for a bed. Such actions are considered illegal, and both the buyer and seller will face disciplinary action by the university’s regulations.
  3. Unauthorized residence or “perching” is illegal. Students caught in violation will face disciplinary procedures and sanctions.

The notice emphasizes the need for students to follow official procedures to avoid any complications or penalties regarding their accommodation.
