University of Illinois Springfield Canvas LMS
University of Illinois Springfield Canvas is an online Learning Management System (LMS) at UIS. A Canvas course site is created for every course taught at UIS. All online and blended courses use Canvas, though not all instructors of face-to-face classes choose to use the tool.
Instructors use UIS Canvas to provide course materials, assignments, and other resources for their classes. You may also submit assignments, take quizzes and check current grades.
All UIS courses, even campus-based courses, have a Canvas course site. If you enroll in an online course, you will access your entire class through Canvas. If you enroll in a campus-based course you may log in to Canvas to access the course syllabus, handouts, or even additional online lectures or discussions.

- Enter UIS Campus NetID Username and Password
- Tap Login button
How to Reset your UIS Password/NetID
Each UIS student is assigned a NetID and password to access To claim your NetID, visit the Information Technology Services website. You will be asked to fill in information including your name, UIN number Forgot your password?
To reset your password, please visit the Password Management Page. (the 9-digit number on your I-Card), date of birth, and Social Security Number.

How to Submit Assignment on UIS Canvas LMS
You can submit online assignments in Canvas using several submission types. Instructors can choose what kind of online submissions they want you to use. You may also have the option to resubmit assignments if your instructor allows.
- Access your Canvas Dashboard
- In Course Navigation, Tap Assignment
- Tap the name of an assignment to view
- To submit an assignment, Tap the Start Assignment button
- Select Submission Type
- To submit an annotated document, Tap the Student Annotation tab
NB: Group assignments do not support the student annotation submission type.
- Select the File Upload tab
- Tap Submit Assignment
- View Submission
Your instructor will decide what kinds of submissions are appropriate for each Assignment. There are four submission types: upload a file, submit a text entry, enter a website URL, or submit media. You can only select one submission type per submission.
NB: all file types may be available for your Assignment, depending on the assignment submission type set by your instructor.
