About UEW AAMUSTED
The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAM-USTED) is a new University located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The College of Technology Education in Kumasi (COLTEK) and the College of Agriculture in Mampong – Ashanti (CAGRIC) previously under the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba have now been joined to form Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAM-USTED).
The College of Technology Education in Kumasi (COLTEK) and the College of Agriculture in Mampong – Ashanti (CAGRIC) campuses of the University of Education Winneba were converted to Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAM-USTED) under Act 1026 (2019) into a fully-fledged and autonomous University.
The new university has the mandate to provide higher education in technical and vocational training and also to train and provide teachers with the relevant competence for teaching in technical and vocational education and training institutions.
The university is also required to foster links between the University, industry and the community to ensure the holistic training of teachers.

How to apply for UEW AAMUSTED Admission
- Log into the AAMUSTED Application System
- Enter Serial Number and PIN on the voucher.
- Choose an appropriate application form and complete it (or edit it if you already have an application and want to edit it).
- Complete the bio or supporting data section and proceed to the result and programme selection section.
- Before you apply ensure that the information provided, especially names, postal address, choice of programme, etc are correct because after applying no corrections can be made.
- Print a copy of your completed application form for reference purposes.
Note the following:
- Make sure your name is correctly spelt and correctly arranged.
- Changes in the name after submission of application and admission if applicable will not be entertained. Make sure you use your e-mail address and mobile phone number. You will be updated on the progress of your application/admission through these channels.
- Remember to attach scanned copies of your School Certificate(s), Result Slip(s), SSNIT Identification Card – Mature Applicants Only – and any other relevant supporting document(s) to the online application.
NB: Before moving to the online application platform, applicants must have the following
A digital passport photo with the following requirements:
- Picture Dimension must be 450 x 450 pixels
- The file format for the passport picture must be a jpg
- All supporting documentation must be a pdf
- Full face, front view and opened eyes.
- Make sure the photo presents a full head from the top of hair to shoulders.
- Take a photo in plain white or off-white background.
- Avoid shadows on the face or background.
- Do not wear sunglasses or hats.

AAMUSTED Admission Requirements for WASSCE/SSSCE Candidates
Applicants with WASSCE must have:
- At least Six (6) credit passes including three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, as well as three (3) Electives in relevant subjects with the total aggregate of 36 or better
- Also satisfy Special Programme requirement(s) for programme(s) chosen.
Applicants with SSSCE must have:
- PASSES (A-D) in Six (6) subjects including three (3) core subject.
- Also, pass three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
NB: Applicants awaiting the MAY/JUNE WASSCE and NABPTEX result can apply.

AAMUSTED Admission Requirements for General Certificate of Education (GCE) Candidates
Applicants must have:
- Passes in three (3) subjects AT LEAST one (Grade D or better)
- Credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects comprising Mathematics, English Language and Science Subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subjects (for science students)
AAMUSTED Admission Requirements for Advanced Business Certificate of Examination (ABCE) Candidates
Applicants must have:
- Passes in three (3) subjects AT LEAST one (Grade D or better)
- Credit passes in five (5) subjects comprising Mathematics, English Language and Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)
AAMUSTED Admission Requirements Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Candidates
Applicants must have:
- Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds any accredited awarding institutions in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II instead of passes in English and Mathematics.
- NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas in addition to three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects including English and Mathematics.
- A National Certificate II qualification in Competency-Based Training (CBT) in relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF)

AAMUSTED Admission Requirements for Higher National Diploma (HND)
- Applicants must have certificate with Second Class Lower Division or better in the area of Specialization.
- All HND applicants must pass an interview. Successful HND applicants would be admitted at Level 200.
- Applicants with Certificates below Second Class Lower Division would be admitted at Level 100 on admission.
Mature Applicants
- Applicants who do not satisfy the criteria specified above could apply as Mature candidates but must be twenty-five (25) years old by September of the year of enrolment.
- All mature applicants must pass an entrance examination comprising Subject Area Test (SAT) and a General Aptitude Test (GAT)

AAMUSTED Admission Requirements Foreign Students
All foreign students should:
- Referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to Teacher Education Institutions in Ghana.
- Note that the American SAT, TOEFL etc. are not accepted as entry requirements into Ghanaian tertiary educational institutions.
Diploma Programmes
2-Year Diploma Programmes
- A Distinction or Credit in an accredited certificate programme OR
- Three SHS/GCE Credits passes in the relevant electives and at least three D7 or better in English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies or Integrated Science.
- TVET Applicants must have credits in five subjects, comprising three core subjects including English language and mathematics and two elective subjects relevant to the programme chosen. People with higher qualifications can apply
1-year Diploma programmes
- At least, Advanced or Diploma Certificate
- People with higher qualifications can apply for Certificate Programme
- At least a Senior High School Certificate
- People with higher qualifications can apply
- Distance education applicants
These programmes can be pursued through the Distance Education Module.
They are:
B.Sc. Automotive Technology, Mechanical Technology, Wood Technology, Construction Technology, Electricals or Electronics Technology, Fashion and Textile Design Technology as well as Catering and Hospitality Technology Education.

- Four (4) G.C.E. O’ Level Credits or Three (3) SHSCE Credits in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
