The University of California, Riverside desire to create a rigorous, engaging, and empowering learning environment, UCR is transitioning to the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). UCR Canvas is a modern, cloud-based, and secure platform that allows real-time integration with our student information system. Canvas offers robust support tools, templates, and training.

Here’s where students to login and access courses, submit assignments and quizzes, as well as allow instructors to communicate with students about course activities and post interesting course-related topics.

This Canvas Quick Guide is for students who want to learn how to use canvas. At UCR, Canvas has now replaced i Learn as eLearning student portal. The purpose of this guide is to help students quickly familiarize themselves with University of California Student Canvas Portal.

How to Login UCR Canvas Portal

Here’s a simple step to access and login to the University of California, Riverside Canvas.

  1. Access UCR Canvas Portal
  2. Enter your UCR Net ID and Password
  3. Tap on the Sign In button

Congratulations!!! Navigate via the UCR dashboard to access courses and schedule classes. For current and first year students online semester registration of courses, access my UCR student extension portal.

How to Submit Assignment via Canvas

You can submit online assignments in UCR Canvas using several submission types. Instructors can choose what kind of online submissions they want you to use. You may also have the option to resubmit assignments if your instructor allows it.

  1. Access your Canvas Dashboard
  2. In Course Navigation, Tap Assignment
  3. Tap the name of an assignment to view
  4. To submit an assignment, Tap the Start Assignment button
  5. Select Submission Type
  6. To submit an annotated document, Tap the Student Annotation tab
  7. Select the File Upload tap
  8. Tap Submit Assignment
  9. View Submission

NB: Group assignments do not support the student annotation submission type.

Your instructor will decide what kinds of submissions are appropriate for each Assignment. There are four submission types: upload a file, submit a text entry, enter a website URL, or submit media. You can only select one submission type per submission.

NB: all file types may be available for your Assignment, depending on the assignment submission type set by your instructor.
