TVET NSFAS Application Dates

TVET NSFAS Application Dates

The purpose of this communique is to advise Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges on the opening and closing dates of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) application for the remaining cycles of the 2025 academic year.

Opening and Closing Dates of the TVET NSFAS Application

The opening and closing dates are aligned as closely as possible to the TVET academic calendar issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Colleges participating in the Centres of Specialisation programmes should encourage participating students to apply for NSFAS funding during the available application window.

There will be no January 2025 NSFAS Application special window.

Unlike in previous academic years, NSFAS will not open the TVET Walk-in applications in 2025, all new applicants or students who have had a gap in funding intending to study funded programmes for the annual, semester 1, and trimester 1 academic cycles must apply during the current national NSFAS applications window.

NSFAS applications are currently open for everyone and will close on the second week in December 2025. Students do NOT need to wait for the release of their current results to apply for NSFAS funding for 2025.

  • Trimester 2 application opens on the 12th of May 2025 and closes on the 23rd of May 2025.
  • Semester 2 application opens on the 14th of July 2025 and closes on the 31st of July 2025.
  • Trimester 3 application opens on the 08th of September 2025 and closes on the 19th of September 2025

It is important to note that a student should apply for the relevant academic cycle in which they intend to enroll.

The method of applications for all 2025 remaining cycles remains the same as the one that students utilized to apply for NSFAS funding for the 1st cycle of 2025, meaning the students will apply for themselves online through the NSFAS Online Application Portal.

Additionally, it is important to remind new applicants to finish the application process to submission rather than just creating a profile and considering themselves to have applied.
