About TSC Online Registration Number and Certificate

The Teachers Service Commission Act 2012 Article 237, requires the commission to register all qualified teachers before they can teach in any public or private institution. A teacher who meets the requirements for registration will be issued with the certificate of Registration bearing a TSC number within 30 days. The names of all registered teachers will be published every year.

TSC Teachers Registration Requirements

Applicants are required to apply for registration online and the user guide is also available.

One should scan and upload the following documents:

  • Certified copies of academic and professional certificates
  • National Identity Card
  • Bank slip (If you’ve paid via the bank)
  • One passport-size photo
  • KCSE Certificate
  • KCPE Certificate
  • KRA PIN
  • GP69 form
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Entry and work permits for non-Kenyans
  • Bank Slip
  • A screenshot of the MPESA transaction message (If you’ve paid via mpesa)

Only original documents should be scanned.

For registration, one is required to deposit Ksh 1,060 through Direct Banking or Simple Banking. (KSh 1,000 is a non-refundable registration fee and ksh 60 for Bank Commission Charge to the TSC).

For the application for a duplicate certificate, one is required to deposit KSh 2,060 (KSh 2,000 is a non-refundable application fee and ksh 60 for Bank Commission Charge to the TSC).

Follow the steps to acquire your Teachers Service Commission, TSC registration number, and certificate online.

  1. Access the TSC Teachers Online Portal
  2. Enter the following details
  • ID Number
  • Surname
  • Phone Number
  • KRA PIN (e.g. N123456789G)
  1. Select Category (ECDE, Primary, Post Primary)
  2. Are you a trained teacher?
  3. Have you carried out teaching practice?
  4. Select your KCSE/ KCE/ KACE/ EACE/ EAACE Mean Grade
  5. Select Year of Sitting
  6. Tap Next to Proceed
  7. Fill in all the required information
  8. Preview and Submit

TSC Application Status

Learn how to check TSC registration status online. These are the indicators you’ll likely find when checking the status of your TSC registration online;

  • In Progress: The application has been submitted but is yet to be verified.
  • Verified: TSC has checked, verified, and confirmed all your application details.
  • Registered: TSC Number has been successfully generated. The TSC Number is indicated on the portal. A text message is sent to the applicant as well.
  • Reset: This means that there’s an error that needs to be rectified. The error is stated both on the portal and in a text to the applicant.
  • Incomplete: The application is not complete/not submitted
  • Rejected: This feedback is given when the applicant doesn’t qualify to be registered as a teacher, especially for failing to meet the minimum academic qualification.

One can be denied registration if he/she:

  1. Lacks the relevant academic and professional qualifications
  2. Is not of good moral character been convicted of a sexual offense or an offense against a learner
  3. Has been convicted of a criminal offense which renders the person unfit to be a teacher
  4. Is engaged in activities that are prejudicial to the peace, good order, or good governance in Kenya
  5. Suffers from physical or mental infirmity which renders the person incapable of performing the duties of a teacher

A teacher can be deregistered if he/she:

  1. Dies
  2. Obtains registration fraudulently
  3. Has been convicted of a sexual offense or an offense against a learner
  4. Has been convicted of a criminal offense which renders the person unfit to be a teacher
  5. Is found unfit to teach following disciplinary proceedings
  6. Suffers from physical or mental illness or infirmity which renders the person incapable of performing the duties of a teacher.

Whenever a teacher is deregistered his/her name will be published in the Kenya Gazette.
