Steps to take if you changed institutions/courses at JAMB. If you’ve changed institutions or courses, this is critical—failure to act could cost you your admission, even if you qualify with the highest scores. Whether you scored 400 in UTME, aced your post-UTME, and have straight A’s in SSCE, without taking the right steps after changing institutions/courses, you risk losing your admission.
While changing institutions or courses isn’t a problem itself, the steps you take immediately after making the change are crucial. A university you switched to will consider your application just like other applicants, but only if you ensure everything is in order.
Here’s what you must do urgently after completing your change at a CBT center or JAMB office.
Step-by-Step Procedures to Follow After Changing Institutions/Courses
To secure your admission after changing your institution or course, follow these steps carefully:
- Visit the JAMB e-Facility Portal
- Enter your login details (email and password) to access your profile
- Navigate to the “Check Admission Status”
- Click on “Access my CAPS” to Login CAPS portal
- Go to the “My Choices” section to verify choices
- Review your institution and course choices to ensure the new changes are showing (the first, second, third, and fourth choices should now reflect your updated selections).
If your new choices are showing: You’re in the clear for now, but proceed with the next steps to ensure your new institution acknowledges you.
If your old choices are still showing and your updated institution/course is not visible, scroll to the bottom of the “My Choices” page.
- Click the “Refresh” This action will reload the page and should update your choices to reflect the recent changes.
- After clicking “Refresh”, check again if your new institution/course is displayed correctly.
Confirm with Your New Institution
- After ensuring your new choices appear on CAPS, visit the official website of your new institution.
- Look for any announcements regarding post-UTME or admission screening registration.
- Follow any further instructions from the school to register for screening or verify your application status.
Monitor Your Admission Status
- Return to the JAMB CAPS Portal frequently to check your admission status under the “Admission Status” section.
- If you’re offered admission, accept it on the CAPS portal to complete the process.
Important Notes
- If your new choices are not reflected even after clicking “Refresh,” contact JAMB or your new institution for assistance immediately.
- Some institutions will not allow you to register for post-UTME unless your details reflect the changes on their end. Confirm this with the new institution.
By following these steps, you’ll ensure your new institution/course is accurately recorded, and you’ll be in the best position to receive your deserved admission.
