NSFAS Student Housing Platform
- NSFAS-funded students are requested to take up properties that have been made available for them which are ACCREDITED.
- No NSFAS-funded student will be paid accommodation allowances if residing in an UNACCREDITED ACCOMMODATION without NSFAS and institution permission.
- NSFAS WILL NOT pay unaccredited Accommodation Providers who accommodate NSFAS-funded students without following processes.
How to Register as a Student & Find NSFAS Accommodation
Sign up for free on Student Connect with your tertiary institution details to verify your study and funding.
- Go to https://profprod.nsfas.org.za
- Navigate to the Top Right Corner
- Select Register As a Student
- Fill in your ID number
- A verification email will be sent to your email address
- Open it and copy your temporary password
- Click Login
- Proceed to login with your email and temporary password
- A One Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to your phone number
- Enter your OTP
- Select your province, institution, and campus
- Create your preferred password and proceed
Congratulations, you’re fully verified! You’ve now fully entered the platform.
How to Apply for NSFAS Student Accommodation Online
Follow these comprehensive steps to apply for NSFAS accommodation online as a student.
- Access the NSFAS Accommodation Dashboard
- Tap on “Find Accommodation”
- Search for accommodation
- You’ll find many options to choose from. Take your time to find the right accommodation for you. Select any property to view more details and pictures (Once you’ve clicked on a property, you can see more details about it). You can apply to a maximum of three properties.
- Tap on the Available Rooms tab to see the beds still available at this property.
- Tap on the Photos tab to see the photos of the property. You can click on any image to enlarge it.
- Click the Apply For Accommodation button.
- Select the type of room you’d like from the remaining available rooms on the property.
Well done! On the next page, you’ll notice your status has changed.
- Your status has now changed to “Waiting For Approval”. The accommodation provider has been notified of your application to stay in their property. They will view your application and choose to accept or decline it.
- You will get an email notifying you that the accommodation provider has accepted or declined your application. If they accept it, your signed lease agreement will be stored for you to view under My Lease Agreements.
- If they declined you or their property has filled up, you’ll also be notified by email.
- You can then apply for another property to replace that one.
