NSFAS Applicants to Submit Outstanding Documents for the Application

NSFAS Applicants to Submit Outstanding Documents for the Application

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) calls upon all bursary and loan applicants for the 2026 academic year to urgently submit their outstanding documents. Submission of these documents will enable NSFAS to finalize funding decision timeously.

Applicants who submit incomplete information are urged to adhere to the NSFAS application process and complete their application by submitting the documents where applicable. NSFAS has already communicated to all applicants who should submit additional documents. Students do not have to re-submit documents that they have already submitted.

Some of the documents that should be submitted are:

  • NSFAS Declaration Form is to be completed by the principal of the school or the social worker. (non-SASSA).
  • The Orphan/Vulnerable Child Declaration Form (for applicants under 18 years) is completed by the Social Worker.
  • The NSFAS Consent form is completed by the applicant and/or parent/s, guardian, or spouse. SASSA recipients do not require this form.
  • Document, that is issued by the Court, to prove guardianship when an applicant has indicated that they have a Legal guardian.
  • NSFAS declaration form should be provided by the applicant if the guardianship was not court-appointed.
  • Disability Annexure form: The form must be filled out by a certified, duly registered medical doctor or another suitably qualified professional (such as an optometrist, physiotherapist, or head of the disability unit), who may confirm the student’s status as disabled and specify the kind of support the student needs as well as how the student would benefit from the suggested support.

Applicants must note that only applicants who received communication to upload documents must submit such documents. It must also be emphasized that for NSFAS to make funding decisions, applicants must ensure that the submission of the required documents is submitted urgently.

Furthermore, it must be emphasized that students will only receive feedback on their application outcome once all necessary documents and verifications have been concluded.

Applicants who are SASSA beneficiaries are excluded from the submission of supporting documents
