In a press release on December 11, 2024, The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) would like to remind all prospective applicants that the 2025 NSFAS bursary and loan applications cycle will close on December 15, 2025, at 24h00 midnight.
Since the NSFAS 2025 funding application opened on September 20, 025, the scheme has received 738 117 bursary and 48 097 loan applications from prospective recipients needing financial aid. Almost 543 357 bursary and 12 210 loan applicants are provisionally approved for funding.

- Submit application.
Who is eligible to apply?
You qualify for an NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study in 2025 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college and you meet the following requirements:
- SASSA grant recipients.
- Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350,000 annually.
- Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
- Must have an email account and cell phone number.
Applicants should remember that timely submission is key to securing financial assistance from NSFAS. Therefore, applicants are urged to mark their calendars and ensure that they complete all required steps before the closing date.
