Ghana Card Registration for Children Aged 6-14 Years
The National Identification Authority (NIA), in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has announced the commencement of Ghana Card registration for Ghanaians aged 6 to 14. The registration process is scheduled to begin on October 7, 2024, and will occur every weekday at 8:00 am in schools across various NIA district offices.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of this free registration opportunity to secure a Ghana Card for their children.
Documents Required for Ghana Card Registration of Minors
To successfully register, parents must provide one of the following documents:
- An original birth certificate, or
- A valid Ghanaian passport, or
- A parent, relative, or legal guardian who can vouch for the child under oath.
- Two social welfare officers can serve as vouching representatives for children who do not have relatives available. Additionally, parents must present their children’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card or number to facilitate data harmonization during the registration process.
This initiative aims to enhance the identification and documentation of children in Ghana, ensuring that every child has access to essential services and benefits. The NIA urges all eligible families to participate in this important registration drive starting in October.
