The National Hospital Insurance Fund – NHIF Supa Cover is a medical insurance cover that enables you and your family to enjoy an unparalleled benefits package. The Supa Cover has no maximum age limit, no pre-existing conditions, and no maximum number of children, but has the largest number of service centers.

What is NHIF Supa Cover?

The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Supa Cover is our old product which we have revamped to include TEN additional benefits so we can give you better quality service.

You do not need any additional requirements or processes to enjoy supacover if you already registered as a member

Use NHIF Self-care Portal to access NHIF services. Service you will access includes, choice/change of facility, view contributions, pay arrears, and much more.

Amendment of Wrongly Captured Information

Suppose a contributor or spouse’s names are wrongly captured or a card is having the wrong gender or year of birth, one should carry the following to the nearest NHIF branch for amendment:

  • ID Card copies/Alien Certificate/Passport
  • Birth Certificates/Notification of Birth

Advantage of the NHIF Amnesty

Are you self-employed and you have not contributed for more than 12 months? You can take advantage of our amnesty to reactivate your NHIF card by paying KES 1,500 via M-PESA pay bill 200222.

Once you pay, your card will start working after 2 months (60 days)

Change of Spouse in the Event of a Divorce

One can change their spouse in the event of a divorce.

Any of the following documents may be used in addition to the attachment of a copy of the ID.

  • Marriage/Divorce Certificate
  • A sworn affidavit from a Magistrate, Lawyer, or Commissioner of Oaths

Addition of Dependants through Adoption

One can add a dependant through adoption.

Any of the following documents may be used in addition to the attachment of a copy of the ID.

  • Documents of legal adoption
  • Letters from the children’s department

How To Rectify Erroneous NHIF Payments Made via M-PESA

Made an error when making your monthly contributions?

  • Visit the accounts department in the nearest NHIF office to have the erroneous payment corrected.
  • Rectifying it is as simple as visiting your nearest NHIF office with your ID copy and Mpesa statement.

How To Pay NHIF Contributions Via MPESA

You can now make payments for monthly remittances before the 9th of every month.

  1. Go to the Mpesa menu
  2. Tap on Lipa na Mpesa
  3. Select Pay Bill
  4. Enter 200222 as the NHIF Business Number
  5. Enter your National ID as the Account Number
  6. For a monthly payment, enter KES 500 or KES 6,000 to pay for the whole year.
  7. Enter your PIN Number to confirm

NHIF Payment Deadline

The 9th of every month is the deadline for submitting your monthly NHIF payments. Paying for your cover before the deadline prevents you from paying any penalties and ensures that you can access medical services without stress.
