The Kenya Schools academic calendar ensures that students and trainees at both basic education schools and TTCs can seamlessly transition through the academic year. With this structured timeline, both educators and learners are set to have a productive and well-coordinated school year.

Primary and Secondary Schools Calendar

According to the calendar, primary and secondary schools will kick off their first term on January 6, 2025, with the term running until April 4, 2025. The second term is scheduled to begin on April 28 and will continue until August 1, 2025. Following a short break, the third and final term will commence on August 25, ending on October 24, 2025.

Secondary schools will also observe two half-term breaks during the year. The first will occur during the first term, from February 26 to March 25, while the second is planned for the second term, between June 25 and June 29.

For Form 4 students preparing to sit for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, the third term will culminate in the national examinations, scheduled to take place between November 3 and November 21, 2025. All schools are expected to reopen for the 2026 academic year on January 2, 2026.

Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) Calendar

The 2025 academic year for Diploma Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) will follow a similar schedule, beginning their first term on January 6 and concluding on April 4, 2025. After a brief holiday from April 7 to May 2, the second term will run from May 5 to August 1, 2025. Students will then go on break from August 4 to August 29.

The final term for TTCs will commence on September 14 and end on November 14, 2025, with the long holiday beginning on November 17, and continuing until January 2, 2026.
