The academic registrar, Makerere University invites applications from Ugandan, East African and international applicants for the undergraduate programmes under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Makerere University Undergraduate Private Admissions
Each applicant should have either details as follows:
The Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes, or its equivalent, and at least two principal passes at Advanced Level (UACE) obtained at the same sitting. (for day programmes only candidates who sat A’level in 2023, 2022, and 2020 are eligible to apply, for evening and afternoon programmes, candidates are not restricted on the year of sitting A’level (detailed weighting system for programmes to be offered by Makerere University for the 2024/2025 academic year can be viewed on the undergraduate admissions office noticeboard or Makerere University website, or Relevant Degree/Diploma from Recognized Institutions.
How to Apply
- UNSA Subscription Fee (Per Year)
- Makerere University Admission Application is online for all applicants for direct entrants only using ACMIS.
- Other relevant information can be obtained from the undergraduate admissions office, level 3, the senate building, Makerere University, or the MAK Website.
- Non-refundable application fee of 50, 000/= for Ugandan and East African applicants or $75 or equivalent for internationals, plus bank charges of ugx2,750/ should be paid in any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
- Candidates who hold grades X, Y, Z, 7, and 9 of O ‘Level results should not apply because they are not eligible for admission.
Makerere University Online Application Portal
- Applicants should access the Institution’s Admissions via the ACMIS Online Applications Portal
- Sign up using your full name, e-mail, and Mobile No. Please note that your name must be similar to the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be considered valid. If you changed your names go to Senate Building Office 611 with an affidavit supporting the name change.
- A password will be sent to both your e-mail and mobile number.
- The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.
- To fill a form the applicant clicks on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the running scheme.
- Obtain a payment advice slip by clicking on the “Pay for Form” button
- Make a payment at any of the Banks used by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

What Applicants Must Know
- Applicants are strongly warned against presenting forged or other people’s academic documents to support their applications for admission.
- Forging of documents shall lead to automatic cancellation of admission, revocation of the award where applicable, and persecution in the courts of law.
- Do not buy any other documents not originating from the Academic Registrar’s Office. Those who buy them do so at their own risk.
- The Academic Registrar has not appointed any agent to act on his behalf to solicit additional funds other than the application fee stated above.
- Applicants are advised to use the right programme names and codes. The University will not be responsible for any wrong Information entered into the system by applicants.
