The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is responsible for the management and protection of important and critical water catchment areas and also complements other National Security Agencies in combating insecurity and counter-terrorism initiatives.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) operates in remote environments and seeks to recruit young and dynamic individuals as Cadets (Assistant Warden I) and Rangers who can endure the conditions for training and deployment to various conservation areas in response to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country in a phased approach as follows:-

Job Requirements for Cadets (ASSISTANT WARDEN I) – KWS Job Grade “9”

The applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of Kenya;
  • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree minimum of 2nd class honors lower division in Wildlife Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Range Management, Veterinary Medicine, Criminology & Security Management, Tourism Management, Education, Sociology, or Community Development from a recognized institution;
  • Be 28 years old and below;
  • Be of good health and physique;
  • Have no criminal record; and
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for nine (9) months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

Job Requirements for Rangers – KWS Job Grade “15”

The applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of Kenya;
  • Hold a Kenya National Identity Card/Passport;
  • Hail from the County of recruitment;
  • Possess a minimum mean grade of “D” (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination or its equivalent from an examination body recognized in Kenya;
  • Be aged between 18 and 26 years;
  • Be physically and medically fit;
  • Have no criminal record; and
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for six (6) months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

Required Documents for KWS Recruitment

  • Academic & professional certificates,
  • Testimonials,
  • National ID card/ Passport
  • Detailed CV indicating work experience, current remuneration and employer, names and contacts of at least two (2) referees.

NB: Applicants must also present original academic certificates, testimonials, and National ID Card/Passport at the recruitment center for verification.

How to Apply for KWS Recruitment

  1. Obtain the prescribed application form free of charge from either the nearest KWS National Park Station or download it from the KWS website.
  2. Fill/complete the prescribed application form;
  3. Attach copies of relevant academic & professional certificates, testimonials, National ID Card/ Passport, and detailed CV indicating work experience, current remuneration and employer, names and contacts of at least two (2) referees;
  4. Submit the complete application form together with the attachments to the address
