About JAMB DE and UTME Admission Forms

The JAMB Direct Entry, DE form is meant for holders of NCE, ND, IJMB, JUPEB, Cambridge, or NABTEB Advanced, BSC, and HND who want to continue their studies in their previous or related courses at any of these universities in Nigeria. Candidates awaiting results can apply for the JAMB DE form.

JAMB DE form allows applicants to seek admission directly to level 200 or level 300 of their desired course in any university of their choice without writing UTME.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is the body in charge of admissions to universities in Nigeria. JAMB administers admissions for UTME (for SSCE holders who are to proceed to universities, polytechnics, and colleges) and DE (for holders of qualifications who are to proceed to universities for the continuation of their studies).

UTME means Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. UTME under the auspices of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB) conducts yearly exams for admission seekers (who had completed their senior schools) usually between February and April every year. JAMB Sales of forms and online registration for these exams start from October to February.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB) is the only exam body in charge of UTME and DE (Direct Entry). Candidates who passed UTME and applied for admission will be offered courses in level 100. UTME candidates are usually SSCE holders or secondary school leavers.

Direct Entry candidates equally obtain the JAMB form but do not write exams. This is the term DE form. These applicants are SSCE holders in addition to IJMB, JUPEB, or any other A ‘level course. DE applicants can be National Diploma (ND), NCE, HND, and BSC holders from any accredited institution.

These are DE applicants seeking admission to level 200 of their previous course or a related one. And if admitted, will start from level 200.

Ways to Apply for JAMB DE Admissions

Fresh DE Applications

These are categories of applicants who have completed courses and obtained ND, NCE, etc., and seeking to be admitted for level 200 or 300 programmes without UTME.
Applicants must have been offered admission through JAMB for their former qualifications or obtained a JAMB registration number via JAMB regularization or JAMB part-time registration.
Aspirants with JAMB registration available (or not available in certain situations) and A ‘level, ND, NCE, HND, or BSC passed or waiting, you can proceed to obtain JAMB DE form.

Mode of Application

Send NIN followed by your 11-digit NIN as an SMS from your unique GSM number to 55019 (e.g. NIN 87901234567 to 55019).
A profile/confirmation code will be sent to your phone after being debited.
Use the code to buy DE form/PIN through JAMB sales of form portals. Form and registration fees apply.
Proceed with your PIN to the nearest CBT center for full registration and biometrics
Go to the CBT center with your SSCE results and the higher qualification results for scanning and uploading unless you’re using awaiting results.
Return to any CBT center to update and reload your awaiting results.

DE Application by Upgrading

JAMB allows students with existing UTME profiles to upgrade their profiles from the UTME to the DE of the same year at the nearest JAMB office. No charges apply.

The Direct Entry upgrade registration only is done at the JAMB offices nationwide. No need to buy a fresh DE form. Students existing UTME profiles will automatically be upgraded to DE via the JAMB Portal.
