About Mature Application Route into University
- You don’t need WASSCE or BECE to obtain a university degree if you’re above 25 years old.
- Mature applicants are not subjected to the cut-off points applied to regular students. Successful candidates can enroll in diploma or degree programs, depending on their performance in the Mature Entrance Examination.
- Public universities often have difficulty meeting the 2–5% quota set for mature applicants, meaning opportunities are readily available for qualified candidates.
- Candidates who fail the Mature Entrance Examination can retake it in subsequent cohorts until they pass.

Who Qualified to Apply as a Mature Applicant
Here are the eligibility criteria:
- Must be 25 years or older at the time of applying.
Should have either:
- Passed all subjects in WASSCE, SSSCE, or any recognized certificate equivalent, or
- Be self-taught and able to read, write, and reason effectively (even without formal secondary education).
Mature Application Procedures
If you’re self-taught or lack conventional qualifications, you will be required to:
- Register for the Access Course and Mature Entrance Examination
- Write three papers: Mathematics, English, and Logic.
- Pass the examination to proceed with the application process officially.
- Buy University Admission Forms and apply online using your Mature Entrance Exams Code (Grades where you’re supposed to enter WASSCE).
- Choose the “Mature Applicant” option in the university’s application module.
NB: Only applicants who pass the entrance examination will be eligible to purchase the e-voucher to access the University’s online application form.
