HESFB Loan Eligibility and Requirements

The Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) invites applications for study loans under the Students’ Loan Scheme from eligible Ugandan students who have been admitted in their first year under the listed Undergraduate Diploma and Degree programmes for the Academic Year 2024/2025 in the Public Universities, Private Chartered Universities and the listed Other Tertiary Institutions.

Requirements for HESFB Student Loan Online Application

Application for a HESFB student loan will require one to upload the following;

A copy of admission letter from any of the participating Higher Education Institutions
A copy of the National ID
Copies of academic certificates or result slips and transcripts
A copy of a birth certificate
A copy of the recent passport photo
Proof of payment of the prescribed processing fees
A copy of the Financial card (Not mandatory at the point of application)
A sketch map of the applicant’s current address/residence
A sketch map of the applicant’s home of origin (if different from the current address)
Filled loan application form submitted online.

Note: Applicants will receive a notification upon successfully submitting the application details through email.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for first-year students who qualified for HESFB loan;

Be a Ugandan Citizen.
Be admitted to pursue an accredited Undergraduate Diploma or Undergraduate Degree programme in a listed Higher Education Institution, Private Chartered University, or Public University in Uganda. Accreditation is by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
Have a financial need.
An applicant must be joining in the First Year
An applicant MUST not be a beneficiary of any other Scholarship/funding Opportunity

The Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) Loan Application process is solely online and accessible through the HESFB Application Portal.

Students’ HESFB Loan Coverage

The student Loan shall cover tuition fees and functional fees. The loan shall also cover Aids and Appliances for persons with disabilities, while research funds may be covered as and when the budget allows. mows,
