This guide documents the steps involved when an Employer wants to DISCLOSE the past HELB loan beneficiaries (loanees) who are employed within their organization, DEDUCT the student loan as per the generated repayment rate (billing schedule), and DISCHARGE the deducted employee’s loan by the 15th day of the following month.
How to Access the HELB Employer Portal

Step 1: Access the HELB Website
- Open a browser and go to https://www.helb.co.ke.
- Click on the Employer Portal from the menu.
Step 2: Log In or Register
- Log in: Enter your email, employer code, and password. If you forget your credentials, use the Forgotten Password option.
- Register: For first-time users, enter part of the organization’s name and follow the prompts. If the organization’s name is missing, click the highlighted registration button.
Step 3: Disclosure of Employees
- Add Employees: You can add employees individually or in bulk:
- Click on the My Employees tab.
- Download the CSV template, fill in employee details, save, and upload it.
- The portal will display whether each employee is a HELB beneficiary and show loan balances and monthly deductions.
Step 4: Monthly Remittance
- Upload the remittance list before payment:
- Go to the Remittance Tab.
- Download and complete the CSV template with staff details.
- Import the remittance file and confirm accuracy.
- Print the e-slip and make payment as specified.
Step 5: Statements and Receipts
- View remittance statements by clicking on the Statements tab.
- Once payment is received, the remittance status will change to “Paid,” and you can download the receipt.
Step 6: Compliance Certificate
- For an Employer Compliance Certificate:
- Click the Compliance tab, fill in employee details on the CSV template, and upload.
- Upon successful verification, print the certificate.
