On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) took a major step towards enhancing fire safety management with the launch of its Automated Fire Permit and Certification Management System. The ceremony, held at the National Headquarters in Accra, marked a pivotal moment in the Service’s ongoing digitization efforts.
The new system, which streamlines the acquisition of fire permits, aims to boost operational efficiency and minimize administrative delays. Chief Fire Officer Julius A. Kuunuor, in his address, emphasized the importance of this innovation, calling it a key milestone for GNFS and expressing gratitude to the stakeholders who made it possible.
The launch was graced by high-profile government officials. Minister of Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey, urged all stakeholders to embrace this transformation for a safer Ghana. He also commended CFO Kuunuor and his team for their determination in bringing the initiative to life. Similarly, Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, lauded the collaborative efforts behind the platform, encouraging the public and businesses to make full use of the system for timely permit processing.
The event drew GNFS Directors, Fire Service Council Members, and key officials from the Ministries of Interior and Trade and Industry, including the Chief Director of the Ministry of Interior.
This initiative marks a significant step towards improving fire safety regulations and modernizing the fire certification process across Ghana.
