Closure of Senior High Schools for BECE

Closure of Senior High Schools for BECE

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has received requests from Heads of SHS whose facilities are to be used as centers for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) scheduled for Monday 15 November 2021 to Friday 19 November 2021 to allow the students to go home during the period.

The Service is keenly aware that the BECE may affect regular classes in some schools. However, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) continues to caution about the erratic COVID-19 situation in the country and advises against the mass movement of students during this period.

Management, therefore, directs that boarding students in said schools are NOT to go home during this end. Heads are to ensure that the necessary arrangements are made for boarders to remain on campus while engaging them in other forms of self-guided learning away from the classrooms where the BECE will be taking place. Day students in said SIIS may stay home and be provided with self-guided learning materials during this period.

The GES is collaborating with the security services to ensure that life and property are protected before, during, and after the examinations.
