The Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) in a press release on October 12, 2021, advised all prospective and existing government workers to register for the NIA Ghana Card to obtain their Identity numbers.
According to Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), this action is to enhance the government’s effort in delivering speedy, secured, and verified payroll services to government employees and pensioners while reducing the risk of underserving payments or claims, the CAGD is collaborating with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to have a harmonized database to facilitate biometric and unique identification of all workers on the government payroll.
The management wishes to inform its stakeholders that effective from December 1, 2021, all workers on the Government of Ghana payroll who have not registered with the NIA will not be paid.
