Entry Requirements
Applicants should:
- Be male and female citizens of Botswana with a valid National Identity Card (Omang)
- Aged between 18-30 years
- Minimum height of 1.65 meters for males
- Minimum height of 1.60 meters for females
- Be of good character
- Have no adverse criminal record
- Be medically, physically, and mentally fit (according to Botswana Police Service
- Standards)
- Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 18-25
- Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and must not fall pregnant throughout training
- Not have visible tattoos on their bodies when wearing a police uniform

- Physical Fitness Assessment (Cooper’s 12 minutes run test)
- Aptitude Tests (Written and Oral)
- A Comprehensive medical examination
- Security Clearance (Criminal vetting and Security vetting)
Primary Purpose of the Job: To provide frontline Policing Services to maintain law and order.
Job Description
Successful candidates will, on completion of Police Training, be expected to carry out the functions of the Botswana Police Service as outlined in Section 6 of the Police Act, Cap 21:01 of Botswana Laws and that is to:
- Protect Life and Property
- Prevent and Detect Crime
- Repress Internal Disturbances
- Maintain Security and Public tranquility Apprehend Offenders
- Bring offenders to justice
- Duly enforce all written laws with which the Botswana Police Service is directly charged and generally maintain peace

- Overtime Allowance at 20% of Basic Salary
- Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government Pays 50% and Employee 50%)
- Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable Employees (Government pays 15% and Employee 5%)
