AAMUSTED Admission Cutoff Points and Requirements in Ghana

AAMUSTED Admission Cutoff Points for WASSCE/SSSCE Candidates

Applicants with WASSCE must have:

  1. At least six (6) credit passes including three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, as well as three (3) Electives in relevant subjects with a total aggregate of 36 or better
  2. Also satisfy Special Programme requirement(s) for programme(s) chosen.

Applicants with SSSCE must have:

  1. PASSES (A-D) in Six (6) subjects including three (3) core subjects.
  2. Also, pass three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.

 NB: Applicants awaiting the MAY/JUNE WASSCE and NABPTEX result can apply.

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Candidates

Applicants must have:

  1. Passes in three (3) subjects AT LEAST one (Grade D or better)
  2. Credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects comprising Mathematics, English Language and Science Subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subjects (for science students)

Advanced Business Certificate of Examination (ABCE) Candidates

Applicants must have:

  1. Passes in three (3) subjects AT LEAST one (Grade D or better)
  2. Credit passes in five (5) subjects comprising Mathematics, English Language and Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Candidates

Applicants must have:

  1. Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds any accredited awarding institutions in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II instead of passes in English and Mathematics.
  2. NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas in addition to three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects including English and Mathematics.
  3. A National Certificate II qualification in Competency-Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area was awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF)

Higher National Diploma (HND)

  1. Applicants must have a certificate with Second Class Lower Division or better in the area of Specialization.
  2. All HND applicants must pass an interview. Successful HND applicants would be admitted at Level 200.
  3. Applicants with Certificates below Second Class Lower Division would be admitted at Level 100 on admission.

Mature Applicants

  1. Applicants who do not satisfy the criteria specified above could apply as mature candidates but must be twenty-five (25) years old by September of the year of enrolment.
  2. All mature applicants must pass an entrance examination comprising Subject Area Test (SAT) and a General Aptitude Test (GAT)

AAMUSTED Cutoff Points for Foreign Students

All foreign students should:

  1. Referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to Teacher Education Institutions in Ghana.
  2. Note that the American SAT, TOEFL etc. are not accepted as entry requirements into Ghanaian tertiary educational institutions.

Diploma Programmes

2-Year Diploma Programmes

  1. A Distinction or Credit in an accredited certificate programme OR
  2. Three SHS/GCE Credits pass in the relevant electives and at least three D7 or better in English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies or Integrated Science.
  3. TVET Applicants must have credits in five subjects, comprising three core subjects including English language and mathematics and two elective subjects relevant to the programme chosen. People with higher qualifications can apply

1-year Diploma programmes

  1. At least, an Advanced or Diploma Certificate
  2. People with higher qualifications can apply for Certificate Programme
  3. At least a Senior High School Certificate
  4. People with higher qualifications can apply
  5. Distance education applicants

These programmes can be pursued through the Distance Education Module.

They are:

B.Sc. Automotive Technology, Mechanical Technology, Wood Technology, Construction Technology, Electricals or Electronics Technology, Fashion and Textile Design Technology as well as Catering and Hospitality Technology Education.

Entry Requirements

  1. Four (4) G.C.E. O’ Level Credits or Three (3) SSSCE Credits in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
  2. One of the following qualifications: Automotive Technolgy – Motor Vehicle Technician III (MVT III) Mechanical Technology Mechanical Engineering Technician III (MET III) Wood Technology- Advance Furniture Design and Construction/ Advance Carpentry and Joinery Construction Technology – Construction Technician.
