The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has officially set up an SMS platform that parents and candidates can use to check for both the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results simply using their mobile phones. How to Check KCSE Results Using an SMS Code

To Check your KCSE Results, parents and candidates are required to send an SMS to KNEC shortcode with the candidate’s index number. Here are the simple steps to check for KCSE Results.

  1. Open a new message chat
  2. Send an SMS to 20076
  3. SMS format: Index Number + Exam (e.g 36611030002KCSE)

NB: Parents and candidates can now check results for KPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE examinations by sending an SMS to 20076. Use this format; Index Number)(Exam), for example; 36611030002 KCSE, and send to 20076. You will receive a confirmation message to this effect.

The KNEC KCSE SMS (Short Code) is available on all networks in Kenya, including Equitel and Telkom Kenya. T & Cs apply.

How to Check KCSE Results Online

Follow these procedures to access and download your KCSE results slip online.

  1. Access the KNEC Online Portal
  2. Navigate to Our Links
  3. Select Our Portals
  4. Tap on the KCSE Results tab
  5. Enter your Index Number
  6. Tap on the Submit button
  7. Your KCSE results will pop up on the screen after a while.

NB: In 2024 KCSE candidates’ examination results will be accessed online through the KNEC Results Checker Portal or directly via KCSE Results Checker. You will be required to enter the candidate’s index number and the name (s) as per the registration data for the KCSE examination. The results will be available immediately after release by the Cabinet Secretary.
