Transition to English (T2E) Plus Program to Improve Reading for Ghanaian Children outdoor

The Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service in partnership with USAID Ghana today launched the Transition to English (T2E) Plus Program through the USAID Partnership for Education: Learning Activity.

Transition to English (T2E) Plus Program launched

The launch, which was held at the Alisa Hotel was to recognize the collaborative efforts of the Government of Ghana and the U.S Government to support over 5,000 schools in all 16 regions.

The Program will air supplemental radio reading lessons nationwide; conduct training, coaching, and mentoring for primary 1 through primary 3 teachers and education personnel; and provide teaching and learning materials for pupils, caregivers, and teachers.

Ghanaian Languages of Instruction (GLOI) to teach pupils to read.

Through this program, trained teachers will use NaCCA-validated materials in English and the official Ghanaian Languages of Instruction (GLOI) to teach pupils to read.

In addition to in-classroom support, pre-recorded, interactive radio reading lessons will be aired in classrooms and on targeted Regional radio stations to complement lessons to improve the reading of Ghanaian children.

The launch also saw the inauguration of a Steering Committee (SC) by the Hon. Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. The SC will be chaired by the Hon. Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. Ntim Fordjour to guide the implementation of the T2E Plus program; make recommendations for improvement, and provide regular feedback to the Minister for Education.
